Matthew 20:28 Jesus the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. If you are planning on having a christian marriage then the mission of your marriage is to serve your spouse and then others.

What does this look like on the day of the wedding. Well I need to say its not a selfish day. Its not a day that you seek your own. The bride should not be a bridezilla. Its traditional for the day to be all about the bride and that is true. How it is achieved is not by selfish means. She would put the needs of her husband ahead of her needs. The husband should do everything possible to make the day about the bride. She gets her day but not by her own strength. When you lay down your life for one another your focus is on the needs of your spouse and others.

You have guests at a wedding and a christian thing to do would be to serve your guests by helping to seat them at the ceremony and greet your guests as the ceremony is complete.

Do you really understand what it means to serve? Matthew 20:16 says, the last will be first, and the first will be last. Its tradition that the wedding couple eat first. Think about this for a minute are you serving your guests or are they serving you? Are you first? Then go last. If your really their to serve than why eat first? Of course, what ever you decide to do at your wedding is your choice and you have the right to do as you please. I believe that if you listen to your spirit then serve.

A bride and groom could even be used to excuse the tables. I had one bride and groom actually get on an apron to serve the meat from the food table. They ate last.

Take time to determine what your vision of marriage looks like. Your not doing this to be seen of man but quietly make a statement of faith. I hope you want a marriage that serves your spouse first, then others!
